10 Songs you won’t hear in a lift

Elevator or lift music is typically set to a very simple melody so that it can be unobtrusively looped back to the beginning.

In shopping centres, lift music has been found to have a psychological effect to make people slow down and browse longer. Its soothing soft melodic tones are designed to not distract listeners but instead fill the otherwise silent space.

Most of us probably hear it in everyday places like shopping centres, hotels, cruise ships, airports and of course elevators but wouldn’t it be nice if we could hear some thing more than this middle of the road music. Imagine stepping in to a lift with a real song playing over the speakers, a moment to stop and listen.

Here are our top 10 songs we would like to hear in a lift (but probably never will):

  1. Röyksopp & Robyn РDo It Again
